And is it really important to the dreams that God has put on my heart?
For me, it's not about the money, or to make myself look smarter than the other person who doesn't have a degree. It's all about accomplishing the dreams that God has put on my heart. Almost finished with my first year of college at Full Sail University, and I'll have to say; I really enjoyed it and it was a great learning experience for me.
I was able to make straight As, but not without much hard work. And I was a 'C' average student all of my life, but if you are determined to push yourself, there is always room for improvement. Anyone can do it. In less than two years I'll be getting my bachelor's degree in game art.
The goal is to start my very own game company called "ChristiAnime" which I already have a social network site created for. If anyone wants to check it out, feel free: www.christianime.com. It has taken this long to make this dream come true, but I won't give up. It's not too late. One thing I've learned, if you know what you're worth, then get what you're worth. But you have to stop making excuses about why you aren't what you want to be. Where has that ever brought me? No where!
I know I'm worth so much more than a cheezy $8 an hour paying job that can't even pay the bills, working for 8-10 hours a day to try to make someone else's dream come true.
I have dreams too, and a dream doesn't just fall into one's lap. You have to work for it. In spite of all of this I have been spat on by some people and told:

I don't believe that an education is worthless, except to the people who don't get it. By going to college I will be able to pursue a career in art to showcase those talents. Speaking of talents, there is a parable that speaks of that:
âFor it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants[a]and entrusted to them his property.
15 To one he gave five talents,[b] to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away.
16 He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them, and he made five talents more.
17 So also he who had the two talents made two talents more.
18 But he who had received the one talent went and dug in the ground and hid his master's money.
19 Now after a long time the master of those servants came and settled accounts with them.
20 And he who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five talents more, saying, âMaster, you delivered to me five talents; here I have made five talents more.â
21 His master said to him, âWell done, good and faithful servant.[c] You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.â
22 And he also who had the two talents came forward, saying, âMaster, you delivered to me two talents; here I have made two talents more.â

24 He also who had received the one talent came forward, saying, âMaster, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you scattered no seed,
25 so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here you have what is yours.â
26 But his master answered him, âYou wicked and slothful servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I scattered no seed?
27 Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received what was my own with interest.
28 So take the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents.
29 For to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.
30 And cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.â
If you aren't willing to use your talents that he gave you, he will take it away and give it to someone else who is using theirs.
So do I believe that you have to get a college degree to do it? Not really. Do I think that it is a way to learn more about the art field and to become involved? Now that is a given.

Let's use the intelligence that God gave us. God will not always call the equipped but he will always equip the called. No it is not about intellect, but I believe that he also wants us to be the head and not the tail. The Bible does view success differently than the world. Success is found in wisdom and understanding. He also wants us to use our talents. Going to college to get more knowledge is just one way you can get into the industry of your choice and allow yourself to be utilized in whatever you specialize in. It is true that what we do here is a reflection of what we're going to be spending our eternity. So do I believe this is a worthy investment? To get an education and start a career here in this world? I'd say it would be a worthy investment.
Will my education really carry over to the other side? What does it matter if a man gain the whole world yet lose his own soul?
Education, in and of itself does not combat ungodliness. Yes, it will help you learn about a job field. But it doesn't change the condition of your soul. This is why salvation must be put first, as the word of God says: "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you." After you seek God, then seek an education, a purpose, a dream, or whatever the Lord has put on your heart to do. Here is something we need to think about. What we do here will be a reflection of what we are going to be doing for eternity. Don't be afraid to make investments now in your education.
((Common sense. I have met many people with various degrees that do not have any practical knowledge. Much of the general knowledge is how a person was raised or exposed to various situations. Some who have made a career of education miss out on many of life's lessons.))
I think it depends on the person. I worked with plenty of people who have degrees and I don't know how they dress themselves in the morning. I also work with people who don't have degrees who are extremely goal oriented, and often coming up with better ideas than the person in charge! I don't have a degree (yet), but luckily I've gained enough knowledge in the business world to help me advance in my future career. You can do it with or without a degree depending on what you're wanting to do. I think that part of the problem is that individuals get degrees in "good paying job fields", and not what they are interested in. And if you are getting a degree just to get paid more, then you are doing it for all the wrong reasons.
((Having a degree doesn't make you smart.. i mean, you are pathetic if you need a piece of paper that tells you that you are smart to think you are smart. some of the smartest people I know have never went to college and they are more intelligent than a lot of people I know that got their college degrees.))
The piece of paper is not your accomplishment. It is only a symbol of your accomplishment, what you've learned, and how you have applied it to your life. Though I do agree that having a degree doesn't make you smart, NOT having a degree doesn't make you smart either. You'll learn that what makes success isn't "intelligence." It's making smarter choices, exercising wisdom, and gaining the skills necessary for employment in your chosen field. It's hard work an dedication.
A dream doesn't just fall into one's lap. You have to work of it, and many people aren't willing to do that. But people who would like to make smarter decisions do that through hard work and often times by starting in college.
Some do it in other ways. It doesn't take a dumb person to realize that living in poverty is no way to live. Not going to college says little about your level intelligence. If you are neurotic about the way people perceive your level of intelligence going to college is rarely a bad idea. Having a degree, however; makes you employed. It alleviates the need to thrive.
And is anyone really going to argue that in the general people with college degrees are dumber than those without? There may be cases, but it's certainly not of the norm.
I think it's pretty immature to put others down just for getting an education and doing well in school. Real common sense tells us that flipping burgers shouldn't be made into a full time career, and milking the government on welfare is not way to live! I've been down the road with this, and I'll tell you: the older you get, the more difficult it will be down the road. Leave those other jobs for the high school kids. For the rest of us who are 25+ years, seriously! Get an education! If you're stuck making minimum wage, and if you're stuck going to a job everyday that you do not love, it's your fault! You could have chosen to do something different, but you didn't!
One thing that Simon (from America's got Talent) said that really rings true: "One thing bullies don't like, they don't like it when you do well".
