Life has a way of throwing curveballs when you least expect it. For me, that curveball came shortly after my 30th birthday in 2013, when I began to notice some serious health glitches that would change everything.

A Dark Descent into the Unknown

It all started with brutal abdominal pain, a feeling like someone was driving a knife through me from my lower abdomen to my rib cage. The pain was so intense, I found myself in tears, unable to understand why this was happening. Hospital visits became a regular thing, but each time I walked away with nothing but painkillers and unanswered questions. Without insurance, the deeper investigations into my health just weren’t an option. I felt like I was trapped in a system that saw me as nothing more than a statistic, not a soul in agony.

In that dark and lonely place, I cried out to God. My health was crashing, my bank account was empty, and hope was slipping through my fingers like sand. But in those moments of desperation, I remembered that I serve a God who hears our cries.

Psalm 34:17 says,

"The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles."

I clung to that promise as if my life depended on it—because it did.

The Turning Point: A Battle for Life

The breaking point came when I couldn’t even finish a work shift. The pain was off the charts, and I was rushed to JPS Hospital in Fort Worth. After a weekend of nonstop discomfort and zero answers, they scheduled me for emergency surgery on Monday.

I went under, not knowing what would happen next, but trusting that God was in control.

Four hours later, I woke up to news that would change my life forever. The surgeons had discovered two massive tumors in my abdomen, one so big it was pressing against my rib cage. Those tumors were a ticking time bomb, and I had no clue. I could’ve died, but God wasn’t done with me yet.

This was the moment that flipped my world upside down. I hadn’t accomplished anything I’d set out to do in life yet, and it was a rude awakening—a ton of bricks crashing down on me, forcing me to re-evaluate everything.

A Second Shot: From Survival to Revival

Coming out of that surgery, I realized I’d been given a second shot at life. I’d always dreamed of being a singer-songwriter and a game artist, but those dreams had been sitting on the back burner. Now, with this fresh perspective, I was more determined than ever to chase them down.

Romans 8:28 reminds us that

“In all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

This experience wasn’t just a random event—it was God’s way of redirecting my path, of giving me a wake-up call that life is precious and fleeting. My prayers were heard and answered, and I’m beyond grateful for this second chance.

The Synthwave Lesson: Life in Neon Colors

In the synthwave world, life is painted in neon colors, full of electric energy and vibrant possibilities. But it’s also a world where darkness exists, where the glow of neon lights can remind us of the battles we’ve fought and the shadows we’ve walked through. My journey from the brink of death to a renewed life is a testament to the fact that even in the darkest times, God’s light shines brighter.

Jesus said in John 10:10,

"I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."

That’s the kind of life I’m chasing now—a full, abundant life, not just in the temporal sense but in the eternal sense. My story isn’t just about survival; it’s about revival. It’s about stepping into the purpose God has for me, unafraid and unashamed.

Never Take Life for Granted

The day my life flashed before my eyes was the day I learned to never take life for granted. We’re all here for a purpose, and we don’t know how many days we have left to fulfill it. So, whatever your dreams are, don’t leave this world with regrets. Keep chasing those neon-lit dreams, trust in God’s plan for your life, and know that He’s got you covered.

Matthew 6:33 says,

"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

Put God first, chase your dreams with everything you’ve got, and let the synthwave rhythm of life guide you to where you’re meant to be.

So what are you waiting for? It’s time to turn up the volume, let the neon lights guide your way, and live the life you were created for. Keep faith in God, trust His purpose for you, and embrace the journey with all its highs and lows.
