🎵 We’re the Xennials: The Lost Generation of the 80s 🎵

Neon lights, scrunchies, crimped hair, and analog dreams—those of us born in the early 80s know what it means to live on the fringe. They call us Xennials, the "in-betweeners" who don’t fit neatly into Gen X or Millennial boxes. Kicked out of Gen X for being too young, and yet somehow expected to vibe with the participation-trophy 90s babies? Nah, that’s not our story. We’re something else entirely—a hybrid generation soaked in nostalgia and neon vibes.

And honestly? We’re thriving.

🌈 Born in the Glow of the 80s

We grew up in a world without smartphones or social media. Back then, fun meant Saturday morning cartoons, playing with My Little Ponies or Transformers, and recording mixtapes off the radio. Yeah, we learned to rewind with a pencil and didn’t need a YouTube tutorial to do it.

In the early 80s, moon boots and high-top Reeboks were peak fashion. Scrunchies were essential, and if your hair wasn’t crimped or styled into a mullet, were you even living? We weren’t just kids—we were walking, talking embodiments of an era drenched in radical creativity and analog tech.

💇‍♀️ Mullet Pride and Earning Trophies

I’ve got the pictures to prove it:

  • Baby Sonya, 1984: Analog cuteness overload. Think Polaroid vibes with a baby-faced, neon-lit smile. 🍼✨

  • 2nd Grade Sonya: The mullet was strong with me! Business in the front, party in the back, accessorized with crimped bangs and a pastel windbreaker. We didn’t just follow trends; we defined them.

  • Today: Synthwave artist crafting 80s-inspired music for a new generation. The dreamer in those old photos is still here, jamming out to the retro beats that started it all.

Earning Our Stripes

Here’s the thing: We didn’t grow up with participation trophies. We were part of the last generation that had to hustle for every win. Whether it was school sports, music recitals, or arcade high scores, you had to put in the work. And that mentality shaped us into who we are today—creative hustlers who don’t wait for permission to shine.

🎶 Still Living the Dream

Fast forward to now, and we’re still jamming to the 80s beats we grew up with. For me, that means making synthwave music that channels all the neon energy and optimism of that era. My tracks are love letters to a time when dreams felt infinite and the world was a glowing gridline of possibility.

For those who don’t get it? That’s fine. We’re not here for validation. We’re here for the vibe, the journey, and the community of people who still rock scrunchies and VHS tapes unapologetically.

✨ A Shoutout to My Xennial Fam

To all the Xennials out there: Keep doing your thing. Keep dreaming big, living bold, and rocking the retro vibes. We might not fit into Gen X or Millennial boxes, but that’s what makes us rad to the max.

Let’s raise our synths and keep this neon revolution alive. 🕹️🔥
